WhoisAlastair.com goes Twitter

It has been almost a year since I have added new Alastair listing to the page. We were receiving quite a few requests to be added to the page for a short period of time, especially after being added to Wikipedia. However, the request finally calmed down - so it is time to light back up the fire!

WhoisAlastair is now on Twitter! You can 'become a fan' http://twitter.com/whoisalastair. We are already following the conversations of over 58 Alastair's on Twitter - which almost equals the number on the website in only a few days.

We will use this and several other social networking avenues in the next few years to make the website more interactive. If you have any suggestions - please feel free to make suggestions!

Thanks,

Alastair reading at 23 months old

The website www.whoisalastair.com has been up for a little over two years now. It is listed as the number one reference on Wikipedia.org and Answers.com for the name Alastair, therefore I get a lot of emails from interesting people named Alastair from around the world wanting to be added to the site. As long as their requests are not obscene or rude, I usually oblige.

However, this request was special in that it came from the mother of a three year old boy from Singapore named Alastair – who started reading at 21 months old. Yes – less than two years old and reading and recognizing words! Check out Alastair reading at 23 months old.

Hey – what can I say, I guess people named Alastair are just naturally smart like that!

After a couple of month hiatus, I finally got around to adding some additional Alastairs to the page. Enjoy!

WhoisAlastair.com Listed as the First Reference on WikiPedia

I started receiving emails from people named Alastair all of a sudden, and I was wondering where they were coming from. Finally I asked one, and he told me that WhoisAlastair.com is listed as the first reference on WikiPedia.com under the name Alastair. Wow!

Not bad for a page I just thought would be fun to create!

Added more Alastairs from WikiPedia

It has been a while since I have added more Alastairs to the page, mainly because I have been working extra hard on Presario Productions since my return to the USA from Finland, Europe. My additions were sparked by an interesting email I received from a gentleman named Matt Wilson, who requested that I add a preacher named Alastair Begg to the site. Unfortunately after some research, I found that the true spelling of the gentleman’s name was Alister Begg, which doesn’t fit within the description of the site (however you can read more about him at http://www.truthforlife.org/beggparkside.php.) Maybe at some point I will start a supplemental version of the site for people whose names are pronounced ‘Alastair’ with a different spelling.

Anyways, he told me he ran across the site because Alastair is a name he is considering for his unborn child (if it is a boy.) He was doing some research on the origin of the name and somehow came upon WhoIsAlastair.com. I love getting feedback on how people find the site, so in trying to mimick his search I ran across the Wikipedia page for the name Alexander (which is the root origin of the name Alastair.) This page interestingly enough had a list of famous Alastairs – so I added a few to the site. So now we have some new members that are royalty, famous news reporters, and even a person whose name is Alastair Begg (spelled with an ‘a’) on the site.

Enjoy!

Added more Alastairs plus the 'Dates Added' row

To make it easier to see when the different Alastair's were added to the page, I decided to start marking them with the 'Date Added' row. I tried to go back in my memory (which isn't so great sometimes) and remember when I added the older Alastair's, but since I work on the page at random that was pretty hard to do.

Anyways - enjoy the updates!

Who is Alastair Gets Rave Reviews...

Being a web design that loves a page with a lot of hits, I wasn't too satisfied by the number of people visiting the 'Who is Alastair' website. So I went on a random spree of posting the site to different blog search engines and sending the link out via email to the different 'Alastairs' on the list. We will see about the search engines, but I was amazed by the response so far from the emails!

It seems like the Alastairs of the world are as proud about there name as I am, and many of them have even added the link to the website to their page. Pretty cool! Maybe we can even get a fad started or something...
